What is Haunt the House?

Haunt the House is a charming and inventive action-puzzle game where you step into the ethereal form of a ghost. Your peaceful afterlife has been disturbed by a noisy party, and your mission is to scare all 30 human intruders out of your mansion. Rather than direct interaction, you must achieve your goal by possessing a wide variety of household objects. From flickering lamps to dancing suits of armor, each object offers a unique way to build an atmosphere of fear. The game is less about horror and more about creative, spooky fun and strategy.

How to Play Haunt the House

You control the ghost with your keyboard, floating invisibly through rooms. To interact with the world, you hover over a possessable object and press a key to take control of it. Once an object is possessed, you can perform different actions to scare nearby people. As you successfully frighten the partygoers, the house's atmosphere level rises, unlocking more powerful and dramatic scare abilities for your objects. The ultimate goal is to raise the tension high enough to make every single guest flee your home in terror, thus restoring peace and quiet.

Tips to Win Haunt the House

To be an effective poltergeist, think strategically about your scares. Instead of possessing objects randomly, try to chain scares together in a single room to create a crescendo of fear. Pay attention to what the humans are doing; scaring someone who is already on edge is more effective. Experiment with different objects to discover all their unique abilities. Some of the most powerful scares are unlocked at higher atmosphere levels, so focus on building a baseline of fear throughout the house first before unleashing your ultimate ghostly powers.
